Pedagogy as Self

The process of conceptualizing is an act of self-prophecy. An examination of objecthood in a state prior to action and how community bolsters this continuous dialogue, while exploring the themes of pedagogy and self-mythology, this exhibition takes inspiration from Black Mountain College.

This exhibition aims to explore the idea of how community "can be" before the valuation of art is solely an act of historicizing to increase monetary value. Artists seek solace in the ideas and communities of other artists—as an act of radical resistance. Black Mountain College was a progressive college in North Carolina during the mid-20th century and was known for its emphasis on interdisciplinary studies and its unique approach to education. The framework of this exhibition draws inspiration from the school's legacy and its impact on contemporary art and education.

Each artist offers a unique perspective on the themes of pedagogy, conceptualizing, and self-mythological strategies.
