These artists explore the signals that are present in our disorienting media narratives. Through sculpture, collage, and video, these artists’ works reconfigure signifiers of identity to expose our culture’s habitual manipulation machine. Conceptual cues such as blurriness, slowness as a mode of abstraction, and uncomfortable material pairings, are tools these artists utilize to warp the lines through which we intuit how cultural turmoil is manifested as a diversion from the rapid obsolescence of nature, via technology and excess.

Christine Rebhuhn is sculptor based in New York City. She received an MFA in Ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2015, and a BA in Psychology and Studio Art from Kalamazoo College in 2011. Her sculptures form subtle misalignment in the things we know. Objects are re-coupled by shape, gesture, and the Uncanny.

Rebhuhn’s work has been exhibited widely with solo exhibitions at NARS Foundation in Brooklyn, NY, at Soo Visual Arts Center in Minneapolis, and at Makeshift in Kalamazoo, MI. Her work has been included in group shows at at Tiger Strikes Astroid, New York, the Boiler in Brooklyn, NY and at Stove Works in Chattanooga, TN, and she exhibited at the 2015 Gyeonggi International Ceramics Biennale in Incheon, Korea. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center (VT), Elsewhere (NC), NARS Foundation (NY), and Makeshift (MI). Her work was published in ArtMaze Magazine and Maake Magazine.

Dana Robinson’s work addresses black female identity through a language of struggle, longing, humor and relaxation. Her work reimagines her history as a black female through the healing possibilities of abstraction.

Robinson has exhibited her work in the US and abroad, most recently at Untitled Miami, My Country ‘Tis of Thee with Here Art Center New York, and a solo show at Co-Lab Projects in Austin, Texas. Her work has been written about in Vice, Ain’t Bad, Queen Mobs Teahouse, Kolaj Magazine, and Sarah Lawrence College’s Lumina Journal to name a few. Robinson recently graduated from the School of Visual Arts with an MFA in Fine Art and is currently living and working in Brooklyn at Spaceworks, through the Nfinit Foundation Artist-in-Residence Program. Dana is also showing her with at The Material Art Fair Mexico City with Beverly’s.

Liza Feurtado received her BFA in Fine Arts at Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. Feurtado lives in Brooklyn, and works with sound, video, installation, painting, and digital collage. Her work explores relationship and interactions in nature, as a way to express the metaphysics of decay. She frequently DJs around the city, and hosts a monthly experimental radio show entitled Nostalgia. Her work is best experienced through her intersection of new media, communication design, and event-making.
