Jen Wink Hays & Sabine Finkenauer

BDDW Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of work by Jen Wink Hays and Sabine Finkenauer.

Jen Wink Hays is a painter and sculptor based in Philadelphia, PA. Her oil paintings are characterized by her use of a bold, dissonant color palette that blends subdued earthy tones with aggressive, synthetic neons. While working, she closes in on detailed under-paintings with lush fields of opaque oil paint. Working in these distinct, incomplete layers allows her to explore the idea of concealing and revealing, a process which she has described similar to that of an archaeologist, "toiling away to reveal hidden, long forgotten information." Jen has exhibited nationally and internationally, including New York, Los Angeles, Milan, and Miami.

Sabine Finkenauer was born in Rockenhausen, Germany. She received her MFA in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and currently lives and works in Barcelona, Spain. Sabine’s work, driven by the search for images that give pleasure and joy, can be defined as a game whose strict rules she discovers by drawing. Her drawings begin as simple, primordial notions which transform to take on different meanings depending on the viewer. Her work is as much about the empty spaces as it is about color and form.
