Dunkunsthalle proudly presents America Runs, a group exhibition curated by Pioneer Works' esteemed Joey Frank.

A "liminally accurate” group show, America Runs features an event in partnership with Dean Kissick's Seaport Talks, hosted across the street from Dunkunsthalle at TJ Byrnes.

Dunkunsthalle's founder, Rachel Rossin, offers a quote by Marcel Duchamp when discussing the framework of America Runs: "You cannot define electricity. The same can be said of art. It is a kind of inner current in a human being, or something which needs no definition."

America Runs features electricity as both the backbone and theme of the exhibition, highlighting ambitious works by Emmett James Palaima and Brian Oakes. Both artists employ custom circuit boards, sharing advanced and philosophical concepts regarding electronics and electricity – the literal and functional overlap between our organic and digital worlds. The exhibition delves into the intersection of these two realms. Bella Carlos and Chris Lloyd's wallworks introduce a spiritual aspect, alluding to both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions. Georgica Pettus presents a site-specific performance on security cameras related to the electronic infrastructure of the former Dunkin' Donuts. Curator Joey Frank creates an assemblage of images from Jason Rhoades and Gretchen Bender to contextualize the show within the broader lineage of new media work. America Runs offers an essential perspective on the medium of new media and the ever-evolving state of art.
