Why Can't It Be Everlasting?

Tracy Williams, Ltd. is pleased to announce Why Can't It Be Everlasting? a final group exhibition on 23rd street by fifteen artists of the gallery's program. This presentation commemorates five years in our Chelsea location, as we look towards our imminent move to a new space opening in May 2015.

Evoking memories and moments from our exhibition history in this space, we seek to highlight the incredible range of means and methods found within each of these artists unique practice. Energetic paintings and meditative works on paper hang alongside monumental photographs, as well as, sequential and curvilinear freestanding and hanging sculptures.

While certain artists explore formal issues of structure, material, color and light, other present themes include the interplay between the psychological and the spatial, and the ontological tension between living things and its surroundings, both urban and natural. An effective dialogue of contracts and accords echoes throughout the rooms, immersing the viewer into his or her own world where paradox and pleasure seamlessly intertwine.

This group exhibition includes works by Barbara Bloom, Ernst Caramelle, Nicole Cherubini, Anne Chu, Richard Dupont, Simryn Gill, Olav Christopher Jenssen, Jeff Landman, Judy Ledgerwood, Domingo Milella, Alyssa Pheobus Mumtaz, Murad Khan Mumtaz, Peter Stichbury, Astrid Svangren, and Morgane Tschiember.
