Silke Lindner is pleased to present Eurhythmia, a group exhibition featuring six artists whose non-representational practices are informed by music and rhythm. Through sculpture, painting, and drawing, the works in the show evoke movement and pulse—drawing from notational systems as well as the sensory patterns of nightlife and everyday experience.
In Étude, Alice Gong Xiaowen combines pitch modulations with asemic notation using six high-frequency strings from a guzheng, an ancient Chinese plucked zither. Each organically curved string is punctuated by soap stones resembling fingerpicks, conjuring a ghostly hand that slides down the strings in a glissando gesture—evoking presence through absence, and sound through form.
Bronson Smillie repurposes accountant ledger paper as a substrate for notational grids, borrowing the visual language of musical scores. Against this structure, biomorphic forms and circular motifs rendered in felt soften the grid’s rigidity, suggesting rest, fluidity, and emotional cadence.
Ang Ziqi Zhang’s intimate panels, rendered in soft and dense rhythmic gestures, reflect her engagement with club culture and her affinity for techno and electronic music. These layered compositions incorporate shapes rooted in diagrams and technological systems, merging sonic energy with abstract structure.
Solomon Rousseau’s minimal metal sculptures, composed of concentric coil forms, embody rhythmic repetition and motion. These layered structures record the gesture of their own making, spiraling in a cyclical motion that evokes tempo, accumulation, and the meditative groove of a vinyl record. Marlon Kroll’s paintings move in synesthetic oscillations between portals of color and form. Influenced by his upbringing in anthroposophy, a spiritual philosophy founded by Rudolf Steiner, Kroll constructs visual soundscapes where organic shapes and rhythmic lines vibrate like sympathetic harmonies.
Jesús Hilario-Reyes draws from an ongoing practice of archiving dancefloors—capturing the ephemeral aftermath of nights steeped in movement, music, and collective experience. Their sculptural installation Untitled Dancer features an elevated platform with patterned red glass flooring and a lighting system, channeling the residue of rhythm, memory, and community in a sensory homage to nightlife
