Bernard Langlais

Bernard Langlais was a Maine native and maintained a studio in Cushing, Maine until his premature death at the age of 56. He developed his artistic interest at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Langlais' work was included in two landmark shows New Forms-New Media (I and II) at the Martha Jackson Gallery and The Art of Assemblage at the Museum of Modern Art in 1961. He also showed with Leo Castelli who represented noteworthy artists such as Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol. During his post-New York career, Langlais' body of work matured into a exploration of the animal kingdom, his most beloved subject.
