Matthieu Bouchard

Matthieu Bouchard is a Montréal-based painter whose practice explores uncertainty, accumulation, and discovery through gesture and material. Working with layered brushstrokes, reworking, and elements of collage, he allows intuition, memory, and external experience to in uence the direction of each painting. Traces of earlier decisions remain visible within dense, shi ing surfaces, inviting associations that can move between people, places, landscapes, and memories. Bouchard holds a BFA in Painting from Concordia University and has been practicing and exhibiting for over two decades.
