47 Canal

47 Canal is a contemporary art gallery founded in 2011 by artist Margaret Lee and art dealer Oliver Newton, now located in a 6,500-square-foot space on Wooster Street in SoHo. Originally established as an artist-run project space on Canal Street, the gallery has been dedicated to showcasing artists who explore new material possibilities and address shifting social realities shaped by technology. Known as a champion of emerging and Asian-American artists, 47 Canal has seen three of its represented artists included in the 2019 Whitney Biennial.
